The framework for good fish welfare must be strengthened. Initially, suitable measurement criteria must be established to assess the welfare of salmon and lumpfish. Next, appropriate routines must be established to identify these units of measurement.
When this is done, the collected knowledge may be applied for studies on how the welfare of the salmon is affected by what it experiences throughout life, such as transport, bad weather and delicing.
Regarding the lumpfish, the focus is on what practices and circumstances can be changed to improve welfare.
